I'm a software engineer who took the long way around.
Both of my parents are software engineers. I grew up with an immediate interest in 3D animation, audio engineering, and video games — a kid who liked the feeling of building something and watching it respond. That never really left.
I studied computer science at Western Washington University and joined PACCAR in 2024, expecting a career in embedded C / C++ on vehicle digital displays. Within a year my work had pulled sideways into AI tooling — I built LARS, a fully agentic reasoning system that lives inside our ECU codebases, automating defect investigation, release auditing, and acting as an additional reviewer on code changes. It's used across multiple teams and has been cited by senior management as an example of AI implementation that translates directly to soft savings.
Outside of PACCAR I run Jelo Labs, a software studio I formalized in 2026 to contain the partnership and client work that was already happening on the side — a music rights SaaS, an architecture firm's website, a recipe app I wanted to exist, and a handful of things in motion.
The way I think about this moment in software: the people who can enable AI tools thoughtfully — and who can diagnose what the model produced and know whether it's right — will provide the most value for a while. I don't want to oversell that. I want to keep shipping real products and stay a big-picture engineer who sweats the details that matter.
