Tremain Architects — Hawaii architecture studio.
An editorial site for a Hawaiian architecture firm — sage and clay, generous space, the projects leading.
Tremain Architects asked for a website that felt less like a portfolio and more like a monograph — a quiet space for their residential work across the islands.
I designed and built the site on Next.js with Sanity as the CMS, giving the team a clean authoring experience for new projects, team bios, and journal entries. Typography and material restraint do most of the work. No heroics.
The palette (#f1f2ed on #7b665f) is drawn directly from their built work — bleached cedar, plaster, lava stone, Pacific light.

Architecture Rooted in Place
Tremain Architects is a design studio based on the Big Island of Hawaii, dedicated to creating buildings that belong to their landscapes. We draw inspiration from the volcanic terrain, the rhythm of the ocean, and the deep cultural traditions of the Hawaiian Islands.
Our practice values craft, restraint, and environmental stewardship. We work with local materials wherever possible — basalt quarried on-island, sustainably harvested hardwoods, and hand-formed concrete — to create structures that age gracefully in the tropical climate.
